Course Overview
In this Learning-Doc the learner should be able
describe the major components making up the Alterrex and how power is
controlled within the generator. Content
begins with introductory statements as to the purpose and theory of operation,
and continues with the construction of the exciter, the brush rigging, and
power rectifiers. Material then
continues with descriptions of the excitation controls, describing the major
components, thyristor regulation, AC Regulator, DC Regulator, and some related
protective devices. Common alarm
discussions include the implication of each alarm, probable causes,
instrumentation, and actions to be taken.
